Application is open for the Women’s Scholarship Endowment (WSE). Afghan women who want to obtain a university education form a private or public university in Afghanistan in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) can apply to this scholarship. The WSE program supports Afghan women in their studies to overcome barriers to employment, raising their income and developing leadership roles within their families, communities.

Who is eligible?

Applicants who fulfill the following requirements can apply to this scholarship:

• Be an Afghan female
• Have been accepted to a public or private university in Afghanistan or region university to study a STEM-related field.
• Do not be on academic or disciplinary probation
• Fulfill the following grade requirements:
  • New bachelor’s degree students should have at least 80% cumulative grade point or 2.70 CGPA out of 4.0 from high school studies.
  • Current undergraduate students should have 80 % or 2.7 CGPA from their undergraduate studies.
  • New graduate students should have 80 % cumulative grade point or 2.7 CGPA out 4 from undergraduate studies and existing graduate students should have the above percentage from their graduate studies.

Selection and evaluation criteria:

1. Academic performance
2. Statement of Purpose and Objective Letter
3. Letters of Recommendation
4. Involvement in extra-curricular (non-academic) activities
5. Preference will be shown to women studying a field in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) over those studying a STEM adjacent topic.
6. Preference will be given to applicants from more rural areas
