Master’s or Doctoral Scholarships for Asian countries in Korea

Afghanistan Students and students from other eligible Asian countries who are willing to study at Ehwa Women University in Korea can apply to fall or spring admission of the Ehwa Women University and POSCO  Asia Scholarship.

POSCO TJ Park Foundation offers scholarships to Asian students to study their Master’s or Doctoral degrees at the most prestigious Korean universities and institutions in Korea and provide them with a deeper understanding of Korean society and culture. The program is aimed that not only promote the students’ knowledge in their fields of study but also help them grow as world leaders and young intellectuals.

Eligible Countries to apply: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen,  Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Mongolia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia

Eligibility: 

  • Must be from any Asian Countries except Turkey
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree
  • Must be accepted to one of our cooperating universities and nominated by the universities.
  • Be proficient in the English language by meeting one of the following:
    • (PBT 530, CBT 197, iBT71, IELTS5.5, TEPS600,
    • Obtained a high school or a degree from an institution in English Speaking countries
    • Be recognized as proficient English speaker by Ehwa Woman University

Programs level:

  • Master’s /Combined Master’s and Doctoral /Non-degree Program: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Program/Non-degree Program: Masters’ degree

Required Documents (Both International Studies and Korean Studies Applicants):

 

  • Application form
  • Certificate of graduation
  • Official transcript of academic records
  • International Students: A copy of Passport and Language Proficiency Requirement
  • A certificate of previous employment (Only for applicable candidates)
  • Statement of Purpose (for Master’s and Doctoral) (250-500 words)
  • Letter of recommendation for Combined M-D program and PhD program

 

How to apply

Applicants can apply directly to the universities; after the primary evaluation by the university, the foundation will take an interview and announce the final result.

Applicants who apply to Ehwa University should apply online, pay the application fee of 80,000 KRW, and submit the required documents online, then send them via post to the Ehwa University GSIS Office. International students can send their documents by email before April 30 to the email below: gsis97@ewha.ac.kr and send the hard copy to be received by May 6, 2019.

Applicants who want to apply to other cooperating universities must check their website for more information.

 

Important: Please refer to the website for more information, as the types and number of required documents for each department differ. Applicants should submit original documents or copies authorized by the originating institution. A translation must accompany documents that are not in Korean (Korean Studies applicants) or English (International Studies applicants). Submitted documents will not be returned to the applicant. GSIS office may ask an applicant to submit additional documents not listed above if there is a need to verify the authenticity of submitted documents.

Selection Process:

The universities will evaluate candidates’ documents, and the foundation makes the final decision for the Scholarship. Each participant should apply directly to one of the cooperating universities. Selected candidates are invited to attend the scholarship grant ceremony, and the funds are awarded.
