Opportunity Description

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is organizing a leadership program for Afghan women in Kabul, Tokyo and Hiroshima. This program consist workshops, study tours, role plays and etc that are held in Afghanistan and Japan. Afghan young women who are in their junior or mid-level of profession can join this program. There is no cost to participate in the Women Leadership Training program.

Purpose of the program

The Women Leadership program is designed for empowering Afghan women leaders by training them the good governance and the SDGs specially the goal number 5 of SDG (Gender Equality). Women should learn that there is no peace without development and there is no development without peace.

Workshops:

There are two workshops in Women leadership programme that the workshop number 1  will be held in Kabul for 3 days in August 2018 and the 2nd workshop will be held in Tokyo & Hiroshima, Japan for one week in September 2018.

 

Benefits of Women Leadership program:

  1. Participants will have the opportunities to learn:
  • key elements and details of SDGs,
  • good governance,
  • SWOT analysis of gender equality in Afghanistan,
  • women leadership
  • Hiroshima’s post-war reconstruction key element
  1. There is no cost to participate in this program except organizing the accommodation in Kabul and travelling to province for those who come from provinces.
  2. A UNITAR Completion Certificate is awarded to the participants who has successfully completed the program including workshop participation, assignments and final presentation in Japan

Who can participate in this program?

The participant must meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Women Leadership program:

  • Be an Afghan female -Junior to mid-level young professional from the government or private sectors and universities and civil society organizations.
  • Be interested in Women’s empowerment and developing their leadership skills.
  • Applicants from outside the Kabul province are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Have at least a bachelor degree or minimum three years of work experience
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Have the written letter of supervisors support (your supervisor and director/HR/Deputy minister approval)
  • Fully and actively participation in all parts of the program, training and assignments
  • Have a passport the must be valid until at least March 2019
  • Committing to the program

How to participate in the program?

Applicants are required to read instruction/call for application carefully, and write the short answers (100-200 words) to the following questions, then apply online no later than Friday June 15th 2018.

  • Passport copy (your photo and signature page). Your passport should valid till 03, 2019

  • Supervisors support letter signed by the supervisor and director/executive or deputy minister of organization you work (the sample of this letter is attached at the end of call for application and HERE)
