The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program is a fully funded Scholarship program for international students to create an international community of highly trained professionals who are/will be working in areas of economic and social development.

Benefits of Joint Japan / World Bank graduate Scholarships:

The scholarship covers all following expenses:

  • Full tuition fee, Application fee, and admission fee
  • Monthly allowance of 152,000 JPY to cover living expenses that include accommodation, meal, and books
  • one round trip economy class air fare Travel cost at start and end of the program at Keio University.
  • Travel allowance of 500 USD

Note: the visa fee, family member expenses, extra training, language training, educational equipment and additional travel expenses will not be covered by the Scholarship.

Who can apply to World Bank Scholarship?

Only students who meet the following requirements can apply to World Bank Scholarship:

  • Have the citizenship of a country that is a World Bank member, eligible to receive bank financing.
  • Not have dual citizenship of any developed country
  • Be healthy
  • Have a bachelor’s degree obtained at least three years prior the application deadline.
  • Be currently employed in development related work in a paid full time position except those who are in fragile situation including Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Sudan and other countries listed on world bank website in fragile situation
  • Have 3 years or more recent development related work experience after undergraduate studies
  • Not be World Bank staff or staff’s family member.
  • Be intended to study abroad in Japan
  • Not have received any funding for graduate studies from government of Japan
  • Be admitted to the university unconditionally/conditionally only upon securing financing
  • Be proficient in English (TOEFL iBT79, IELTS 6)
  • Meet admission requirement
  • Not be currently pursuing a master’s or PhD in industrialized countries
  • Not have one or more years of training/studies and / or residency in industrialized countries
