Job summary:

The ORCD is looking to hire 15 Construction Engineers whose job will be in the Kunduz province of Afghanistan. Eligible applicants can read the details and apply.

Job description

Duties and responsibilities:

The engineers’ tasks include:

  • Provide general technical assistance to ORCD construction projects, from their planning to their implementation and monitoring phases.
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and observation tools and their effective development.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective quality control systems are in practice, and contractor and engineering consultancy firms work in conformity with technical specifications and ORCD quality standards.
  • Oversee and evaluate the performance of service providers.
  • Make sure all technical inputs and cost estimations relating to the construction components are precise, timely prepared, and included in the project proposals and budgets.
  • Support the Supply unit in all tender exercises for the procurement of construction and consultancy services.
  • Assume responsibility for overall improvement and use of resources.
  • Determine and manage risks and take corrective action where essential, so that maximum benefit to client and stakeholders is rendered.
  • Produce interim and final project and handover reports and keep the related project records.
  • Manage project spending, cash flow, and obligations to ensure that deliverables are matched with, and payments to contractors and personnel are made on time.
  • Coordinate with Operations and programs required activities and ensure proper and timely actions from both ORCD’s and Government’s side.
  • Certify payments of funds, monitor and submit financial status reports to management in accordance with the pre-established requirements.
  • Performing any other assignment from project Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Be Afghan national
  • Graduated from related Engineering faculty of and Higher Education institution.
  • Able to speak in Pashto, Dari and preferably in English
  • Knowledge of computer MS Office in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, and outlook.
  • Able to work in the fast-paced environment
  • Having 2-3 years’ experience in a relevant field is necessary.
  • Ability to travel to the field(s)
