Job Summary:

The nurse will provide immune, competent, individualized nursing care to patients in need of care, ranging from basic to complex, including communicating patients/family education and support. Furthermore, nurses have to demonstrate efficiency in using electronic monitoring and other equipment. It may also require the incumbent to discharge care to COVID19 positive patients, too.

Job Description:

Primary duties and responsibilities of nurses will be to:

  • Give and take full bedside over.
  • Maintain and transfer complete over of particular assignment, e.g., crash cart, stock medication, narcotics, refrigerator items as, OR supplies assigned by supervisor.
  • Complete primary assessment of the patient to identify care needs and document it properly.
  • Ensure all assigned patients received quality nursing services by reassessing the patient’s health condition during his/ her hospitalization.
  • Undertake risk assessment for fall and take necessary steps if required.
  • Provide appropriate care to all received patients independently as per individualized needs.
  • Illustrate & deliver care to patients as per defined needs during the assessment.
  • Oversee vital signs according to patient condition or unit protocol and report in case of any abnormality.
  • Rate the patient’s level of pain (subjective/objective) by applying standardized pain scales.
  • Administer medication carefully, monitor patient’s responses to medication where indicated, and report associated incidents quickly.
  • Practice safe intravenous (IV) therapy and oversee patients’ responses and take measures accordingly.
  • Carry out blood and blood product transfusion as per the defined policy.
  • Be able to handle patients securely under phototherapy, incubator, or warming unit.
  • Help physicians in delivering services and other gynecological procedures.
  • Initiate resuscitation in the event of cardiac arrest and deliver appropriate care.
  • Show competency in doing 12 leads Electro Cardio Gram.
  • Review the patient’s diagnostic findings, report in case of abnormality, perform intervention as asked, and follow up.
  • Ensure sufficient nutrition and fluid management of patients.
  • Deliver sanitation care to all patients on the basis of the defined policy.
  • Carefully receive the patient from outside as a referral or any other nursing unit.
  • Carry the patient safely for procedures to OR/ Labor room or shift out to other areas as per the criteria outlined.
  • Check all pre-operative preparation of patient and documentation relating to patient and surgery as suitable.
  • Exhibit knowledge and skill regarding the accurate use of unit relevant equipment and their safe handling.
  • Follow manufacturer’s instructions associated with operating, handling, cleaning, and safety checks of all equipment/ instruments.
  • Coordinate the movement of the equipment from OR to other units and vice versa and keep records.
  • Coordinate care services with other departments. e.g., professional health service, facility management division, etc. to satisfy the client’s needs.
  • Adhere to the unit as well as nursing division policies.
  • Comply with the infection control practices and follow asepsis.
  • Adopt a positive and supportive attitude towards the supervisor and seniors/team leaders
  • Take initiatives towards his/her responsibilities.
  • Work in a team atmosphere; contribute ideas and solutions to resolve problems that will expand teamwork within the department.
  • finally, Demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude towards patients and families.

 Job requirements:

  1. Qualification:
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Diploma program/ BSc in Nursing
  • Ability to manage workload and set priorities appropriately.
  • Able to deal with difficult clients.
  • Fair communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with team members.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Make responsible decisions that lead to time and cost containment to the institution and customers and obvious accountability.
