Job Summary

WHO is seeking 20 Laboratory Technologists to perform laboratory testing for COVID-19 and other required testing using RT-PCR techniques and other testing methods in the assigned provinces.

Job Description:

Role and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will perform the following tasks under the direct surveillance of the head of the provincial Laboratory In-charge.

  • Receiving, handling, and analyzing samples.
  • Performing tests on samples and experimental processes using RT-PCR and other testing methods
  • Designing and executing laboratory testing in compliance with standard procedures, draw observations, and analyze findings
  • Processing and properly storing chemicals, reagents, consumables, and other materials according to safety guidelines
  • Picking-up and supplying items for the laboratory
  • Dealing with inquiries or necessities from the visitors and workers
  • Doing administrative tasks such as keeping notebooks, documenting procedures, and preparing orders
  • Any other task that is given by the supervisor

Required qualifications for the job

Functional Abilities and Knowledge:

–      be able to work on Real-time PCR and other testing methodologies

–      Established ability in reporting samples’ results.

–      Ability to build and preserve effective working relationships within a team with multi-cultural backgrounds in a multi-disciplinary management service atmosphere.

Education:

  • A diploma in Medical laboratory technology is mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical laboratory technology is desirable.

Experience:

Essential: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in clinical laboratory procedures.

Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system.

Language skills: Fluent in Dari and Pashto and having working-level knowledge of English.

IT Skills:

– Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Assessment method:

WHO may hold written test/presentation and interview or a mixture of the mentioned means to select the most qualified applicant.
