Introduction
Submissions are now open for the 2020 Global Sign Challenge. The Global sign Challenge is an annual competitive event designed to honor and recognize the remarkable stories showing how individuals across the world are using their National Sign Languages to enhance children’s communication skills and learning.
Furthermore, it seeks to ensure that the global community and grassroots EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (ECE) stakeholders enjoy the knowledge and stimulus to make a real change in inclusive ECE universally. So, if you are interested and work in this filed, grab the opportunity of empowering local communities to take action for children!

Benefits of the competition
The benefits for the winners are:
- The challenge will provide training and support for the winner of the 2020 Global sign Challenge,
- Three successful nominees would also work with the school to develop a book idea for publication and use, to involve children in your program,
- The challenge empowers, trains, and supports you to cooperate with Early Years Centres, Grassroots organizations, and Education Groups in your local communities to create storybook,
- Up to 10 Winners from any country will receive recognition and a Certificate of Participation, and
- Winners would also receive incentives on all publications.
Objectives of the initiative
- To foster the development, awareness, and acknowledgment of national /regional/local sign languages.
- Advance creativity and innovation in interacting with and backing young children’s’ learning.
- To enhance community and family relationships with young children.
- Bolster a sense of pride in sign language and deaf culture/identity.
- Finally, the overall vision of the Global Sign Challenge is to have sign language introduced in all early years programs globally by 2030.
Who are eligible?
- Preschool, local education group, or non-profit organization working with children in their early childhood (0-8yrs), and is passionate about introducing sign language in their program can apply.
- You can nominate someone from your community who has a passion for and is already using your national sign language for the improvement of young children’s language and communication skills.
How to apply?
You can submit an online application after fulfilling other requirements and filling in the application form.
What you should include in your application:
Submit a two-minute video about your work. All videos must have captions in English.
