Opportunity Description

Linda Norgrove Foundation (LNF) offers 33 fully-funded scholarships for young Afghan women to study for their bachelor’s degree in Kabul, Afghanistan for the spring semester in 2021.

Organization Background:

The Linda Norgrove Foundation is a grant-giving trust that funds education, health, and childcare for women and children affected by war in Afghanistan.

The Trust was set up in memory of, Scottish aid worker, Linda Norgrove who was devoted to ensuring that the people of Afghanistan would achieve prosperity and stability as their country was rebuilt. She was completely committed to her development work and she loved Afghanistan and its people. Linda was kidnapped and subsequently died during a failed rescue attempt in Afghanistan in October 2010. About the scholarship:

These scholarships are only available to applicants who want to study in the following fields and at the below-listed universities in Kabul and who are in need of external financial support. LNF pays the university full tuition fees until the graduation of the students.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. The applicant should have their High school diploma while applying for the grant.
  2. The applicants’ high school average percentage should be above 80%.
  3. Applicants should be from a low financial background.
  4. Current students of the scholarship-offering universities should possess a percentage of 90% to be eligible for this scholarship.

Required documents

  1. Applicants should download and submit the LNF Application form for scholarships along with 2 essays each one page long, in either Dari or English.
  2. The first essay should provide details on your passion for the chosen field and the reasons for your inspiration to choose this field. Avoid providing general information on the health sector rather state that why you are interested in studying medicine and indicate your future plan.
  3. The second essay should include an explanation of your financial condition and a demonstration of why you are suitable for the scholarship to study in the framework of this scholarship (Number of the family member; describe each family member’s situation, how much is your family income, and why you are qualified for this scholarship). Explain the financial situation of your family on the whole.
  4. Those students who are already enrolled in the university should explain in their essays their source of funding up until now.

How to Apply?

Application is through email. So, applicants are required to submit the LNF scholarship application, which includes all the details of the applicant and the essays mentioned above.  Additionally, all applicants are required to submit their High School Transcript and Diploma together with their ID Card/Tazkira. Students who are already enrolled need to submit a copy of their recent exam score/transcript provided and verified by the university.  Applicants should combine all the required documents into one PDF file and send it to the given email.

Points to consider:

  • Do not apply to LNF directly via its website because it will not be considered. 
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by February 28, 2021.
  • Scholarship application form filling is free; so avoid paying money to anyone.
  • Those with lower GPAs than stated shall not be eligible.
