About the Institute:

Founded in 2006, the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) is a unique public-private partnership between the Governments of Afghanistan and France, a French NGO – serving Afghans through the partnership between Afghanistan and the Agha Khan Development Network through the Agha Khan University Hospital.

FMIC is now issuing a call for traineeship resumes to hire and train 51 individuals interested in building a career in medical fields. The fields are numbered described below.

Job Description:

About the Traineeship Program:

FMIC offers unique on-the-job traineeship programs in different disciplines to young individuals willing to build careers in the respective fields, and to help the trainees provide knowledge and boost the required skills. To this end, trainees are paid a fixed monthly transport grant and meal in order to support them during the smooth continuation of the program. Furthermore, upon successful conclusion of the traineeship period, the trainees may be considered as regular employees of the FMIC, subject to availability of a position and satisfactory performance. In last, the intern will closely work under straight and close guidance of the senior staff during the training period.

Job Requirements as per each categories of trainees:

  1. Registered Nurse – Trainee. Required qualification and competencies:
  • Graduate of a reputable Nursing Diploma Program/bachelor of science in nursing
  • An efficacious team player and contributes to team building
  • Have good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to cope with difficult customers
  • Grasp basic written and oral English
  • Able to deal with stressful situations
  • Must be regular and punctual
  • Represent positive reputation of FMIC via professional appearance and behavior
  1. Registered Midwife – Trainee. Essentials of qualification and competencies:
  • Graduated from an accredited Midwifery Diploma Program/Bachelor of science in Midwifery
  • An  team player and contributes to team building
  • Possesses good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Able to deal with difficult customers
  • Understand basic written and verbal English
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations
  • Must be regular and punctual
  • Represents positive image of FMIC via professional appearance and behavior

 

  1. Unit Receptionist – Trainee. Essential qualification and competencies:
  • High school graduate
  • Be an effective team player and contributes to team building
  • Enjoy good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to organize workload and set priorities in light of patient acuity
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers
  • Understand basic non-verbal and verbal English
  • Ability to manage stressful situations
  • Maintain him/herself well-groomed and follow the uniform code at all times
  • Motivated towards learning and capacity expansion
  • Be computer literate in MS Word and MS Excel
  1. Porter – Trainee. Important qualification and competencies:
  • 12th Grade Graduate or at least have the reading and writing ability in English and local language/s
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understand basic written and oral English
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations
  • Must be dutiful and punctual
  1. Consulting Clinic Facilitator-Trainee. Essentials qualification and competencies:
  • High school graduate
  • Be an effective team player and contributes to team building
  • Enjoy good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to organize workload and set priorities in light of patient acuity
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers
  • Understand primary non-verbal and verbal English
  • Ability to manage stressful situations

  1. Radiographer/ X-ray Technician-Trainee. Essential qualification and competencies:
  • ​Diploma in Radiologic Technology from a recognized institute (3 years)
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fair working knowledge of technical X-Ray and operation of the relevant equipment
  1. Pharmacist-Trainee. Essentials of qualification and competencies:
  • B.Sc in Pharmacy or Pharm. D from an esteemed university or institute
  • Familiarity with function of hospital pharmacy
  • Good understanding of physiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical
  • Familiar with local accessibility of drugs and pharmaceutical, and their indications
  1. OT Technician-Trainee. Essential qualification and competencies:  
  • High school graduate
  • Have received training as technician from a recognized institution
  • Sound understanding of human anatomy and physiology and OR terminology
  • Exhibit understanding of principals of asepsis
  • Able to describe safety procedures to the extent they relate to use of electro-surgical equipment

  1. Biomedical Assistant-Trainee. Foundational requirements and competencies:
  • Associate Degree in biomedical engineering discipline
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  1. Mechanical Technician-Trainee. Essential qualification and competencies:
  • High School Graduate from a recognized school and priority will be given to one-year Diploma holder
  • Sound knowledge of Maintenance Management System
  • Adequate communication skills in English and local language(s)
  • Good command of computer
  1. Electrician-Trainee. Essentials of qualification and competencies:
  • Associate Degree diploma in Mechanical Technology Engineering
  • Knowledge of power and Electrical/Mechanical Instrumentation
  • Sufficient communication and interpersonal skills in English and local language(s)
  • Computer skill (MS Office program)
  1. AC Technician-Trainee. Essentials of qualification and competencies:
  • 12th Grade Graduate. AC or Electrical one-year diploma holder will be preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines independently.
  1. Solar System Engineer-Trainee; Essentials of qualification and proficiencies
  •  BS.c in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • MS Office skill i.e. MS Word and MS Excel.
  1. Electrical Engineer-Trainee. Essential qualification and competencies
  • MS.c/BS.c/BE Engineering from any leading University.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in English, Dari as well as Pashto language.
