Introduction

Banyan Tree Global Foundation (BTGF) is calling for 2021 applications for its annual grants to individuals and organizations that have launched or work on projects aligned with the Foundation’s agenda within a local setting to back measurable impact and improvement towards wider regional or universal frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals to help people and the planet.

Grant amount

Applicants may request up to USD10 000 (including GST), but applications for lower grant amounts are welcomed.

  • Fair travel cost, transfer, consumables, and incidentals
  • Equipment and supplies
  • Housing and food coverage
  • Stipends justified in detail for those project team members not receiving a salary.

What projects is BTGF looking for?

  • Projects which are innovative and impactful, aligned with one or more of its six focal areas.
  • Those projects are undertaken within countries where Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts work.
  • Projects must have a clear necessity and urgency; should use local, regional, and national partnerships needed to deliver measurable impact.
  • Projects shall be scalable with a clear assessment of success.
  • All projects must include the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, fairness, and transparency.

Eligibilities

Organizations and individuals meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply.

  • Individuals over the age of 18 with decent skills and backgrounds.
  • No active grant with BTGF in advance.
  • Individuals need organizational affiliation to administer the grant in the operation country.
  • Applicants from any nationality can apply.
  • Individuals should have local collaborators (if working outside of their home countries)
  • The individual responsible for conducting the project must apply and write the application.
  • The application should be in English,
  • The project starting time is within 6 months from the application submission deadline and will be completed within twelve months of fund issuance.
  • The project should have an additional funding source if the grant does not cover all intended costs.

Selection process

  • The foundation will inform the applicants of acceptance of their submission after the submission deadline.
  • Proposals shall be judged on merit and scored based on fitness and alignment, capacity to implement, risk, and finance.
  • BTGF Executive Committee shall review scores, and the BTGF leadership make the final award decision.

Note: Applicants with successful projects have to submit relevant paperwork before funds are released.

Grantees responsibility

All grantees are required to submit a detailed report at the end of the project period.
