Overview of the special needs scholarship

The application for the Special Needs Scholarship at the Canadian University of Dubai is open now.

Canadian University Dubai tries to provide an inclusive learning atmosphere and to support the intellectual, emotional, and creative progress of students with disabilities. Physical or other kinds of disabilities may justify special needs in the context of this initiative.

Similarly, students eligible for a Special Needs Scholarship will benefit from a 30% reduction in tuition.

This scholarship is also part of the (COVID-19 financial relief offer) through which CUD is considering a 30% decrease in fees to both new and returning students for all undergraduate and graduate disciplines for the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters.

Scholarship benefits

The Special Needs Scholarships are offered with a 30% reduction in tuition fees accordingly. And, students themselves need to pay other amounts payable to study onto this scholarship.

Overall terms and conditions of eligibility

To be eligible for these scholarships, you should satisfy the following requirements:

  • Scholarships are open to nationals of all countries who meet the minimum section criteria for a specific scholarship category.
  • Enrolling as full-time students in four academic courses per semester is suggested; however, specifying the exact number of courses to enroll in will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
  • Scholarships can be awarded for credit-bearing courses only.
  • Students must achieve the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) necessary in order to continue to receive scholarship funding.
  • For s applicants applying for the Special Needs Scholarship at the time of admission to the University, the academic average will be considered by the scholarship committee on a case-by-case basis.
  • Current students should maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 to be qualified to apply for the scholarship.
  • Special Needs Scholarships are not available for summer semesters.
  • Students need to provide an up-to-date, professionally documented diagnosis that will be kept confidential.
  • The scholarship application is evaluated by and subject to the scholarship committee’s discretion.
  • Available scholarships are only valid for the tuition fees currently applicable at CUD.
  • The scholarship committee refutes late or incomplete scholarship applications.

Further conditions

Students can apply for more than one CUD scholarship if they meet the eligibility requirements. In the event, a student qualifies for more than one reduction, scholarship, or discount; the student will have the opportunity to choose the scholarship bearing the highest value.

Applicants must pay all remaining fees (tuition and housing) immediately in order to receive and reserve the scholarship. Furthermore, the number of scholarships given is limited, so the scholarship fund depends upon the specific eligibility criteria.

Language requirements

All students have to provide an English competency certificate, such as TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE-A (Pearson Test of English Academic) or an equivalent standardized internationally renowned English language test. The minimum score necessary for each study level is different. Read more here.

Candidates must email their scholarship application forms along with all additional documents to scholarship@cud.ac.ae. You can also submit an online application through its website.

In general, the following documents are necessary for the application, but you could contact the team for specifics.

  • Original and fully verified high school transcript
  • A main and fully attested version of high school diploma/leaving certificate
  • Original high school equivalency certificate if needed
  • IELTS or TOEFL certificate
  • The scholarship committee checks applications from holders of High School Certificates after payment of the non-refundable fee of 500 AED.
  • Bachelor’s degree educational documents for those applying to graduate programs
