Introduction

The application for academic excellence scholarships, which is part of multiple scholarships offered by CUD, is open now. Recognizing the financial pressure that COVID-19 pandemic imposed on families in our communities, to help where possible, CUD is offering a 30% decrease in fees to both new and returning students for all undergraduate and graduate programs for the fall 2020 & spring 2021 semesters. Furthermore, this fee reduction can be used with applicable scholarships for nearly a 60% fee reduction in some cases. Worthwhile to say, CUD values difference and diversity and therefore does not want financial limitations or special needs to hamper a great education.

Scholarship benefits

The Academic Excellence Scholarships are offered with a 30% reduction in tuition fees. And, students themselves need to pay other amounts payable to study onto this scholarship.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the scholarships, you should meet the requirements below:

  • Scholarships are open to all students of any nationality.
  • The UAE High School Certificate or its equivalent is needed with an average score of 60% or more (an average of 70% or higher is imperative for entry into some of the academic programs.
  • A minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale or its established international equivalent is necessary.
  • Scholarships are available to full-time students enrolled in four academic courses or higher/semester at CUD.
  • Scholarships can be given for credit-bearing courses only.
  • Students must achieve the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) necessary in order to continue to receive scholarship funding.
  • Scholarships are not valid for summer semesters at CUD.
  • Available scholarships are only valid for the tuition fees currently in place at CUD.
  • Students should enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Fall semester scholarships have the validity of one year, providing that the students maintain CGPA as per the information below.
  • Scholarships granted for the spring semester are valid for one semester only and need reapplication.
  • Late or incomplete scholarship applications will not be evaluated by the scholarship committee

Further conditions of academic excellence scholarships

Students can apply for more than one CUD scholarship, providing that they meet the eligibility requirements. Therefore, if a student qualifies for more than one reduction, scholarship, or discount, the student will have the chance to choose the scholarship with the highest value.

You must pay all remaining fees (tuition and accommodation) immediately in order to receive and reserve the scholarship. Besides, please bear in mind that the number of scholarships available is confined, so the amount payable depends upon the specific criteria above.

Language requirements

All students need to provide an English proficiency certificate, such as TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE-A (Pearson Test of English Academic) or an equivalent standardized English language test that is internationally recognized. Required documents:

  • Original and fully verified high school transcript grade results
  • Ordinary and fully attested high school diploma/leaving certificate
  • Main school equivalency certificate if needed
  • IELTS or TOEFL score certificate
  • CUD reviews applications from High School Certificates holders after payment of the non-refundable fee of 500 AED.
  • Bachelor’s degree educational documents for those applying to graduate programs
