Apply Now to the Program of Economic and Public Policy (PEPP) at the University of Tsukuba, Japan if you wish to study for your Master’s degree there with a fully-funded scholarship. At the University of Tsukuba in Japan, two different categories of scholarships are available for economic and public policy students:

  • The ADB-JSP scholarship
  • JJ/WBGSP scholarship

To enroll in a program in economic policy at the University of Tsukuba, you must apply and fulfill the JJ/WBGSP or ADB/JSP prerequisites.

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Possess good health.
  • Own a bachelor’s degree and have finished 16 years of school.
  • Applicants must demonstrate their oral and written English ability by providing one of the following:
  • Their results on recognized exams such as the IELTS, TOEFL, or TOEC, or a letter from their institution or present employer, as determined acceptable by the graduate program.
  • Give evidence of your linguistic and mathematical abilities by submitting one of the following:
  • a GRE score, a letter from the school you are currently attending, or any document the Graduate School deems relevant

ADB-JSP Requirements

  • Becoming a member-eligible country of the World Bank. (List of Countries)
  • Get admission to an MA course at an academic institution
  • Provide a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with the top academic record
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional work experience after a university degree at the time of application
  • Be proficient in oral and written English
  • Agree to return and work in their home country for at least two (2) years after their course completion under the Program to contribute to its development.
  • Applicant’s age should be 35 years or younger at the time of application
  • Be in good health condition

Who are NOT Eligible for ADB-JSP?

The following people are not eligible for the ADB-JSP scholarship:

  • Executive Directors, ADB management and staff, Alternate Directors, consultants, or close relatives of the persons above associated with ADB
  • The staff of ADB–JSP designated institutions
  • Those who are living or working in a country other than their home country
  • Applicants already enrolled in a graduate degree program
  • Those who have already attained a graduate degree program, such as a master’s – degree
  • Dual citizens of any developed country
  • ADB–JSP does not support undergraduate studies, short-term training, conferences, seminars, distance learning programs, thesis writing, or research projects.

JJ/WBGSP Requirements

To apply for the JJ/WBGSP scholarship, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants should not be a dual citizen of any developed country
  • Be in good health
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent gained at least three years before the Application Deadline.
  • Demonstrate at least three years or more of recent development-related work experience after gaining a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree.
  • Demonstrate at least three years of paid development-related employment since earning a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and acquired within the past six years from the date of the Application Deadline.

  • Transcripts
  • Diplomas
  • Certificates of Higher Education, if any
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Medical Certificate
  • Photograph (40 mm×30 mm)
  • Certificate of Research Activities, if any (Optional)
  • Publications, if any (a graduation thesis is not acceptable) (Optional)
  • Three to four Recommendation letters
  • Statement of Eligibility only for JJ/WBGSP applicants
  • ADB-JSP Information Sheet (Only for ADB-JSP applicants only)
  • Your Income Certificate (Only for ADB-JSP applicants only)
  • Your Family’s Income Certificate (Only for ADB-JSP applicants only)
  • Evidence of English skills:
  1. A TOEFL score of 600
  2. TOEFL iBT score of 100 or higher

How do you apply for the Program in Economic and Public Policy Scholarship?

The application window will open on December 1, 2023, and consists of three primary activities (I-III), which are finished by step (IV), submission:

  1. Completing the “Application Form”
  2. Document preparation and uploading
  3. Obtaining at least three and no more than four letters of recommendation
  4. Application Submission

Notes:

  • All application materials must be in English.
  • Please provide an English translation for any non-English document
  • Your name (the applicant’s name) should appear on all documents you submit.
