Opportunity Description

The United Nations Development Programme or UNDP addresses women empowerment and gender equality and it is one of its key aspects to reach its core vision. Therefore, The Gender Team of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) is created to work on this path under the program of the Gender Equality Seal initiative.

Right now, the Gender Team seeks to hire an intern in order to provide help and support in the Gender Equality Seal program. He/she will perform research work as well as working on reporting projects that are related to gender mainstreaming.

Job responsibilities:

The intern will perform the following duties under the supervision of Gender Seal Team and the Senior Policy Advisor for Gender Mainstreaming:

  • Assist in assessing and mentoring progress on the Gender Equality Seal
  • Assist in implementation of programs in regard to Gender Equality Seal
    • Helping with tracking progress
    • Review of results (from online assessment tool)
    • Dissemination of results
    • Systemization of innovations, good practices and other data (from programs under GES)
  • Assist in promoting and organizing knowledge and learning events
  • Assist with writing, research and sharing on networks of UNDP knowledge
  • Scan the external and internal environment for relevant opportunities of knowledge sharing

Eligibility:

  • Education:
    • Master’s degree (currently enrolled or completed within one year) in the following areas:
      • Gender studies
      • International development
      • Public Administration
      • Or other related field
  • Experience:
    • Practical experience and knowledge of gender mainstreaming processes
    • Have experience working in a team collaboratively (in multicultural environment is desirable)
    • Have experience writing and editing reports, conducting research, basic statistics knowledge and creating presentations
  • Languages:
    • Proficiency in English Language
    • Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French is a strong advantage
  • Competencies:
    • Knowledge of women’s rights and gender equality in the context of development
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong research and organizational skills
    • Strong excel, design and PowerPoint Kills is an asset
    • Familiarity with UN system is an asset
    • Familiarity with basics of statistics is also an asset
