About the Program:

Grist’s winter/Spring 2021 Live Fellowship.

The Grist Fellowship Program is out there for those who like to boost their skills in the news outlet and expand their environmental issues comprehension. The paid program is encouraging inexperienced journalist/media professionals with abilities from traditional methods to multimedia whizbangery. The gist program aims to develop the real-world experience, key skills in a journalism career, and leading towards the era’s thinkers and theories.

News and Politics Fellow

Grist is a nonprofit media organization that leads the editorial team to work on the planet not to burn. The editorial team works on climate changes and climate action. The team publishes daily news, analysis, videos and long-form stories related to issues people grapple with. Grist trying to gather the news and Politics fellow in its editorial team. This program is beginning in 1/2021, and it will end in six months. This team will be expected to do the following duties.

  • Write daily news
  • Write stories
  • Newsletter items
  • Being able to do the research, fact-checking, and other assigned duties.
  • Issues related to the progress of climate and other crises.

Who is qualified for the program?

  • Interested applicants should be committed to the policies.
  • Being familiar with climate issues.
  • The incumbent should have four-year degree/having professional experiences.
  • Having knowledge of Grist’s brand.
  • Ability to publish weekly stories.

Benefit details:

  • This fellowship is a paid program ($3334/month).
  • It covers all health benefits including medical, vision, and dental.
  • The fellow can use all the integration into the workings of nonprofit media organizations.
  • Through joining into Grist fellowship program, applicants benefit six months of experience in news, climates, science, and other environmental issues.
  • As a member of the Editorial team, the participants will be trained and received crucial skills.

Submission Guideline:

Applicants should send their resume along with a cover letter three samples of your work and write a short news post through email.

  1. The cover letter should explain your view about the climate and environmental issues in the stories of the next six months in Gris. Why you are suited for the topics to be covered.
  2. The samples of your work can be a newspaper, magazine clips, blog posts, or unpublished pieces. You can share a link to your multimedia samples (video, illustration, info graphic, podcast, etc.).
  3. Short news posts must be about climate and environment beat. Its length should be around 300 words.
