Introduction
The 2022 IMF Youth Fellowship Program gives young people the opportunity to be a part of the global effort to build better and join the IMF at the forefront of the solution to global economic challenges. Participants will have virtual access to the IMF Annual Meetings and will be able to participate in virtual training led by IMF experts and development professionals to improve their knowledge and communications skills as well as share their perspectives on the current economic environment, with a focus on addressing inclusive growth, food insecurity, inflation, and climate change while creating a better future for youth.

Eligibility criteria
- Be 20-35 years old
- IMF Member Country Citizen (see the list here, Afghanistan is not eligible)
- Proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Participation in social activity and/or involvement with a civil society group
• Entrepreneurship and/or involvement in a start-up
• Contributing to independent platforms and/or creating content - Knowledge and expertise in international studies, fundamental economics, and development concerns, with a focus on inclusive economic growth, food security, inflation, and climate change.
- International relations, development, communications, journalism, economics, or similar subject students or graduates
- Basic command of the English language (for the training program and Annual Meetings coverage)
Timeline:
Phase I: The fellowship program will be offered to all participants via an online application form.
- August 20 (11:59 p.m. ET) – Application deadline
- The committee’s selection procedure begins on August 22.
- Week of September 12 – Announcement of shortlisted participants
Phase II: During the Annual Meetings, selected participants will participate in a capacity-building program.
- October 10 and 11 – Workshops on current global economic concerns, with a focus on inclusive growth, food insecurity, and climate change, as well as seminars on communication skills.
- Attending Annual Meeting seminars and activities to get a deeper perspective and knowledge of current economic concerns confronting the world.
- October 13 – Topic-specific group presentations
