WHY NOW? WHY YOUNG PEOPLE?

As far as, the COVID-19 crisis and the citizen-led movement to address racial injustice have magnified deep systemic splits and inequalities in our societies, and as we look towards our collective future, it’s vital that we reimagine and reconfigure how we live and work together.

As a global community, we need the unparalleled dexterity, creativity, and optimism of youth. With digital connectivity, inclusive approaches, demand for transparency, and deep worry about climate justice—along with the vision to realize and solve problems at a local level—young people are crucial to our recovery. For this reason, the IYF is organizing this summit.

Eligibility

Do you have a story of social change to tell?  Can you share a model or strategy that has a positive impact on a societal problem? Or Can you teach other change makers a must-have skill?

If so, the IYF call for applications is inviting applications from:

  • Young change makers aged 10 to 35.
  • Individuals interested in leading a session as a storyteller, skill-builder, or strategist.
  • Applicants from people of all backgrounds are eligible to apply.
  • IYF strongly encourages youth from marginalized or underserved communities to apply.

Format of the summit: Reimagining the Future

The “Our Future, Our Voices” virtual summit will take place around three THEMATIC tracks (3P), which align with clusters of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

Track 1:

PEOPLE: Ensure that all humankind fulfill their potential and live with access to health and in a dignified and equitable world.

SAMPLE SESSION TOPICS

  • How can we make access to healthcare more just in a post-pandemic world?
  • How can the next generation tackle systemic barriers to racial and gender equity?
  • How can we remove the digital divide and more completely leverage technology for learning?

Track 2:

PLANET: Protect the planet so it can respond to the needs of current and future generations.

SAMPLE SESSION TOPICS

  • How do we exploit the energy of a reduced human footprint after the quarantine time to address climate change?
  • How can cities engage youth to create more resilient communities?
  • How are young people promoting new sustainable agriculture models?

Track 3:

PROSPERITY: build a prosperous, ethical, and sustainable economy that works for everyone)_ including the most susceptible.

SAMPLE SESSION TOPICS

  • What will recovery look like? How do we ready for new jobs that will emerge post-crisis?
  • How do we incorporate youth-led and minority-led small businesses into supply chains?
