Application is Open for 15th Japan Internation Manga Award. Artists from around the world can apply for this great award.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan established the Japan International Manga Award in 2007 to spread the Manga culture overseas and recognize the best artists from around the world to encourage them for the development of their skills and exchange their experience with Manga creators.

Submit your work if you have worked as an artist and interested in getting this award. There are one gold award and three silver awards for the best cartoons. The selectees will be invited to a 10-day trip to participate in the Award ceremony in Japan and have the opportunity to exchange ideas and visit the producing company.

Award Purpose

Spreading MANGA culture overseas and promote international cultural exchanges through MANGA.

Manga Prize

There are 4 awards awarded for the best Works

• 1 Gold Award of the Japan International MANGA Award: for best MANGA work
• 3 Silver Award: three other excellent works.
• Supplementary prize The gold and silver award winners will be invited to Japan on the occasion of the award ceremony for around 10 days (the fine work winners are not entitled).

Who can apply to Manga Award?

• The works should:
  • Be composed of more than 16 pages, no matter whether it is a published work or unpublished work. The works that have previously won the Japan International Manga Awards.
  • Have produced in the last three years (2016-2019 )
  • must submit in printed form. (Submission of data might be required later on.)
• Overseas publishing companies can apply to the Japan International MANGA Award, upon confirmation from the MANGA artists of submitting their work.
• Either the comic artist or story writer of the submitted work has to be a foreign national. Also, the representative who will participate in the invitation program given to the Gold / Silver Award winners must be a foreign national.

Conditions

• only one work may submit per applicant.
• Only one work may accept under one title (or series).
• In case that a collection of short stories is applying, only one story will accept for examination.
• Duplicate entries will be invalid.

For the purpose of publicity, the MANGA Award Executive Committee may upload the winner’s MANGA works (partially)

Interested eligible  applicants should download the application form, fill it, and send/submit their Applications along with two copies of their works in one the following ways below:

Selection Process

The Thirteenth international Manga Award Selection Committee will select the works to award.
