Opportunity Description

Rotary Foundation accepts applications from international applicants to apply for the Professional Development Rotary Peace Fellowship 2025-26. The Foundation offers fellowships for professionals seeking a peace and development studies certificate or work in a related field.

Students with diverse backgrounds and professional experience can apply for this opportunity. Fellows will gain practical skills to endorse peace within communities, locally or globally, during this one-year program. Moreover, the fellows will complete field studies and design and undertake a social change initiative.

Benefits of the Professional Development Rotary Peace Fellowship

The Rotary Peace Fellowship for Professional Development Certificate will cover the following elements:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Room and board
  • Round-trip transportation
  • Field study expenses

Eligibilities Criteria

Applicants for the Rotary Peace Fellowship should:

  • Be proficient in the English language
  • Provide a bachelor’s degree
  • Prove at least five years of full-time relevant experience in peace or development work.
  • Demonstrate commitment to peace and cross-cultural understanding
  • Prove leadership skills
  • Explain how their plan to promote peace aligns with Rotary’s mission
  • Makerere University candidates are either from Africa, have worked there, or have worked with African communities or initiatives outside the continent.
  • Bahçeşehir University Candidates from the Middle East/North Africa must working in the region, working with related communities/initiatives globally, or demonstrating interest in peacebuilding approaches in the region

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants should be mid-career peace and development leaders with at least five years of relevant experience
  • Must have a social change initiative promoting peace and development in the program region
  • A clear vision of how the fellowship and network will advance peace work and increase the impact
  • Intended for working professionals, it requires 11 weeks of on-site participation
  • Upon completion, fellows earn a postgraduate diploma
  • Commitment to sharing work and staying connected with Rotary members

Applicants with the following restrictions are not eligible for the fellowship:

  • Active Rotary or Rotaract members
  • The staff of a Rotary club and district, Rotary International, or other entities of the Foundation
  • Spouses, children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption, spouses of lineal descendants, or ancestors of any living person in these categories
  • Previous Rotary members and their relatives mentioned above within 36 months of their resignation.
  • Currently enrolled applicants in undergraduate or graduate programs
  • Engage with Rotary to learn about Rotary’s work in their community and worldwide

What Programs Does the Fellowship Include?

The components of the Fellowship are as follows:

  • A preliminary online course
  • Ten-week on-site course
  • A social change initiative
  • One-week on-site capstone seminar

The following documents are mandatory for the Professional Development Rotary Peace Fellowship:

    • Resume
    • Academic and professional recommendations
    • Personal video statements and essays
    • Transcripts from postsecondary colleges and universities attended (master’s only)
    • English language proficiency test scores ( IELTS or TOEFL if required) (master’s only)
    • Social impact plan (certificate only)
