Overview of the competition

Submissions are now invited for the ‘Go Green 2021 Global Student Competition’ from applicants from any part of the world. This completion is held by Schneider Electric in cooperation with AVEVA to collect and cherish bold ideas of creative youths who are game-changers around the globe and who are daring to disrupt and put their skills to the test leading to digital transformation in Energy Management. So, if you are a young student, have a team of two members, are willing to bring your green ideas to life, share your ideas which are bold and focused on re-shaping energy management, and participate in the competition.

Benefits and prizes

There are five categories of prizes for participants of this competition as follows:

  1. First Prize

Global winners will be offered a trip to one of the following cities: Boston (USA), London (UK), New Delhi (India), Paris (France), or Shanghai (China) – visit SE’s offices, network with employees, and exchange with high-level management

  1. Global Finalists

They will win the worldwide challenge of the competition.

  1. Regional Finalists

Contenders in this category will receive mentorship from Schneider Electric experts to enrich their proposals and make it to the Grand Finale!

  1. Women in Energy Award

One all-female team will ascend to the Global Finals and compete for the top prize!

  1. All Participants

Will be considered for an HR interview and get content about Schneider Electric’s benefits, job opportunities, and early career occasions.

Virtual Global Finals 2021

Out of all applicant teams, the top teams are invited to attend the Virtual Global Finals of Schneider Go Green 2021 in June 2021.

This is where teams shine and can be bold! Each team will have the chance to present their bold idea in a 15-minute presentation followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with a jury consisting of Schneider Electric’s senior management.

The top team for this stage will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Recognizing user needs
  • Innovation of Solution
  • Feasibility/financial business case
  • Sustainable impact
  • Alignment to rules and conditions

Who are eligible to make a submission?

To take part and qualify, you should have a two-member team and must:

  • Be a Bachelor’s student (at least on 2nd year) or/and working on a Master’s degree.
  • Be pursuing your education in Business, Engineering, Marketing and Innovation.
  • Team members must be preferably studying in the same Region/Country for the duration of the competition.
  • To be inclusive and diverse, at least one team member must be a female.
  • Have proficiency in English as the final pitch will be presented in English.

  • Homes of the Future

Can homes be smarter, more sustainable, and incorporate new technologies?

  • Plants of the Future

Apply the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and more to the industries of the present or future.

  • Grids of the Future

Imagine the future of energy management and distribution!

  • De[coding] the Future

Envision future approaches to design, engineering, and construction of assets and infrastructure.

How to apply?

To apply, teams should register on the platform, select a competition category, and submit a 10-slide proposal deck in English (PPT or PDF format), addressing the following:

  • Problem statement
  • Core points of differentiation
  • Operational availability
  • Team profile

Evaluation procedure and timelines

February 16, 2021 – March 4, 2021 

Regional judges will evaluate submitted proposals then vote on the top student teams (up to 10 teams chosen per region) to receive mentorship on the following criteria:

  • Creativeness
  • Practicality
  • Presentation quality
  • Sustainable impact

MENTORSHIP (March 5, 2021 – April 5, 2021)

Designated teams will attain mentorship from Schneider Electric experts to improve on their solution and nurture their proposals.

Regional finals (April 7, 2021)

The regional finals will offer teams the opportunity to pitch their business ideas virtually to a panel of judges. Following deliberation, each regional jury will select a single team to advance into the global finals. Selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Realizing user needs
  • Solution originality
  • Feasibility/financial business case
  • Durable impact
  • Alignment to rules and conditions

April 8, 2021 – June 2021 

Once the final eight teams have been declared, each team will be prepared by Schneider Electric professionals to further expand their innovative solution and prepare for the final event.
