Overview

The application for the Special Talent Scholarship at the Canadian University of Dubai is open now.

This scholarship targets elite and tremendous individuals from any field who have competed and gained success at a city level or beyond. At the same time, special Talent Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s achievement level and their academic brilliance. So, a tuition waiver of nearly 30% applies accordingly.

This scholarship is a part of the “COVID-19 financial relief offer” through which CUD is offering a 30% reduction in fees to both new and returning students for all undergraduate and graduate disciplines for the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters to study at CUD.

Scholarship benefits

The Special Talent Scholarships include a 30% decline in tuition fees. And, students themselves need to pay other amounts payable to study onto this scholarship.

Overall terms and conditions of eligibility   

To be eligible for these scholarships, you should fulfill the following requirements:

  • Special Talent Scholarships are open to all students of any nationality who meet the minimum section criteria for a specific scholarship category.
  • Should enroll as full-time students in four academic courses or more per semester
  • Scholarships can be awarded for credit-bearing courses only.
  • Students should achieve the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) necessary so that they can continue to receive scholarship funding.
  • For high school applicants to be eligible, they must hold a minimum academic achievement of 70%.
  • Returning students need to achieve a minimum of a 3.0 CGPA to be eligible to apply/ reapply for the Special Talent Scholarship.
  • Winning applicants will have to contribute up to 15 hours per month of community service as part of their commitment to the University.
  • Special Talent Scholarships are not available for summer semesters.
  • These scholarships have a one-semester validity and need to be reapplied for.
  • The scholarship committee refutes late or incomplete scholarship applications.

Further conditions

Students can apply for more than one CUD scholarship if they meet the eligibility requirements. In the event, a student qualifies for more than one reduction, scholarship, or discount, the student will have the opportunity to choose the scholarship bearing the highest value.

Applicants must pay all remaining fees (tuition and housing) immediately in order to receive and reserve the scholarship. Furthermore, the number of scholarships available is limited, so the scholarship fund depends upon the specific eligibility criteria.

Language requirements

All students have to provide an English proficiency certificate, such as TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE-A (Pearson Test of English Academic) or an equivalent standardized internationally renowned English language test. The minimum score necessary for each study level is different. Read more here.

  • A completed application form
  • Documents supporting accomplishment or/and achievement within the applicant’s talent field
  • Certificates related to the applicant’s talent
  • Recommendations from instructors, trainers or professionals from within the applicant’s talent field
