United National Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is offering UNITAR Hiroshima Women’s Leadership Programme for Afghanistan, the Sustainable Development Goals, Action Plans and Governance for Young Afghan Females from all sectors including ministries, Universities, local NGOs, and private sectors.

This program includes two workshops, designed to empower afghan women leaders understand “there is no peace without development and not development without peace and without respecting human rights and rule of law, there is no lasting peace or sustainable development”. The program is supported by the people and government of Japan.

What will the participants will get?

 

  • Understand good governance, and gender equality and the Afghanistan SDGs and leadership I in Afghanistan
  • Through the programme’s interactive presentations and practical exercises from local and international experts and UNITAR staff, participants will be equipped with the conceptual knowledge and practical know-how to design and deliver projects and policies focused on gender equality and empowerment to support Afghanistan as it seeks to rebuild and strengthen itself.
  • Recall the key components and objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Identify current opportunities and challenges in regard to gender equality and governance in the Afghan context
  • Outline what good governance is and why it is important
  • Explain stakeholder identification and engagement practices
  • Outline steps in setting a climate to address gender issues through the implementation of SDGs
  • Undertake an Organisational Needs Assessment
  • Develop a complete Results Chain
  • Discuss their own personality profiles with regard to leadership

 

Financial cost:

Participation to this program is free of charge. The scholarship will cover:

  • International travel
  • Accommodation
  • Meals

Note: participants are in charge of arranging their accommodation in Kabul or other provinces.

 

Who can apply?

 

Young afghan women –junior to mid-level professionals from different sectors including government ministries, universities, private sector, civil society organizations and media who fulfill the following requirements are eligible to apply:

Education and age:

  • Be between the age of 20-35 years old
  • Be currently working for an Afghan organization including the sectors mentioned above.
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Skills

  • Have excellent working knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Be able to have internet to complete online courses
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office usage
  • Applicant should have the written support of her supervisor for the involvement in the program using the template provided below. (have signature and approval)
  • Be able to participate the entire program
  • Have a valid passport with validity until at least January 2020 with ability to travel overseas.

  3. Please tell us how you and/or your organization is engaged with the SDGs. How can you and your organization contribute to the SDGs? Please give at least one specific example.
  4. How does gender affect your work?
  5. Your profile – introduce your education, current affiliation/role and relevant work experience (including any volunteer work).

  • Passport Copy (valid at least up to January 2020)
  • Photograph (head and shoulders)
  • Letter of supervisor support: signed by your immediate supervisor as well as, depending on what kind of organization you work for, your Director / HR Director / Executive Director / Deputy Minister.
