The Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Program offers scholarships for applicants from developing countries who are interested in pursuing their master’s degree in Tokyo, Japan.

Qualified applicants who want to study on a fully-funded scholarship, are highly encouraged to apply.

 Eligibilities

Applicants should meet the following crtieria:

  • Applicants must be from developing countries
  • Must have at least two years of experience in customs policy and administration
  • Applicants who have experience in IPR and those who wish to work in the IPR-related field to customs administration in their home country after graduation will be at the priority.
  • Applicants must have a bachelor degree or higher
  • English proficiency:
    • have an intermediate level of English skill for thesis writing
    • Those applicants who have not been done their study in English, required to provide the following score report:
    • TOEFL (IBT 79, PBT 550), IELTS 6.0,
    • Those applicants who do their studies in English must obtain the below official proof:
    • Online PC Environment
    • Online PC environment in which you can run Skype for an interview.
  • Must be in good state of health
  • Applicant’s age must be under 40 years as of 01 April 2024
  • Good academic records
  • Good personal character
  • Applicant’s motivation to applying to SMIPRP
  • Leadership skill
  • Development in individual potential
  • Applicants must be committed to working for at least two years in their home country after graduation.

Note: those applicants who have been awarded any scholarship by the Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Program are not eligible to apply.

  • Two recommendation letter (from the workplace and academic supervisor)
  • Employment certificate with acceptance for leave of absence
  • Research proposal
  • Nomination form of WCO with the signature of the head of the nominating administration
  • Degree certificate and transcript
  • English mentioned certificate
  • Passport copy
  • Copy of any report, paper, thesis or books which are written in the English language (if available)

Important Notes:

  1. The Univeristy will NOT review incomplete applications.
  2. Please download and use the application checklist to submit all required forms and documents.
  3. All the submitted documents must be original.
  4. Applicants should submit all mailing materials by the deadline (Japan Standard Time).
  5. Hand submitted documents, faxed documents, and digital copies sent through e-mail are NOT acceptable.
  6. Official copy of documents means a certified true copy of the original document with an official seal.
  7. The Univeristy will return all the submitted documents to applicants. So, keep copies of all the documents submitted with your application.
  8. All documents should be in English. If the original documents are written in languages other than English, applicants should attach its official English translation with a seal and signature to the original documents.
  9. AGU respects the privacy of every individual who submits personal information.
  10. Required documents should be in typewriting, not in handwriting.
