Are You a Young Scientist or an engineer?

World Federation of Engineering Organization and Its Committee on Young Engineers and Future Leaders (of Which United Nations Major Group For Youth and Children (UN MGCY) is a part) are launching a new competition for the best ideas and projects from young engineers to achieve Sustainable Development Goals through engineering. The competition is launched for the first World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development.

You are invited to submit a brief description of your ideas or projects currently you are working on and will achieve sustainable development.

Your idea or project can be focused on addressing one or more of the following 17 SDGs. The Abstract should be in English and a maximum of 300 words:

  • Goal 1: No poverty
  • Goal 2: Zero Hunger
  • Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being for people
  • Goal 4: Quality Education
  • Goal 5: Gender Equality
  • Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  • Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.
  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and communities
  • GOal 12: responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal 13: Climate Change
  • Goal 14: Life Below Water
  • Goal 15: Life on Land
  • Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
  • Goal 17: Partnerships for Goals.

Who can apply?

  • Young engineers who are under 35 years on December 31, 2020
  • have an idea or project which will achieve sustainable development.

Criteria:

  • Impact of the project one or more of the targets underlying the UN SDGs.
  • The Auther role in the project
  • Innovation level in addressing the issue and how a solution has been developed
  • Presentation quality

Announcement of the final result: World Engineering Day at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on March 4, 2020
