Opportunity Description

The youth department of the council of Europe is organizing the World Forum for Democracy to provide the opportunity for 50-60 young people who are active in political decision-making, debate solutions to key challenges for democracies worldwide.

The main them of World Forum for Democracy 2019 is Information & Democracy. asking which information is reliable whether it support or prevent the citizens from participation in democratic processes and what lesson should learn to ensure the free flow of information in the future.

The main focus of the Forum is discussing successful initiatives and actions having real-life initiatives as a starting point and providing general guiding principles to encourage and support future policy responses and field action.

Applications from applicants from all over the world who meet the requirements regardless of their gender, disability, marital, or parental status, racial, ethnic or social origin, and, etc. interested applicants in democracy and information are invited to participate.

  • Information and the future

Eligibilities:

  • Ages must be between 18-30 years
  • Have good English proficiency (communication and work)
  • Be able to take part actively in civil society democracy initiatives
  • Have motivational aspects for developing ideas of youth and democracy
  • Be able to share problems of media, fake news, and information applicants faced and the effects on democracy
  • Be able to contribute new ideas and solutions for media, fake news, information and democracy’s questions which will be mentioned during the program.
  • Can participate in the whole scheduled programs and preparation process beforehand

Required documents:

  • A short video (applicants video must be about 1 minute and must be mentioned why you should be selected for the program)
  • Support letter from applicant’s NGO/sending organization

How to apply:

  • Share your video on YouTube and then share the links on the online application form, if applicants can not publish their video they can contact to WFDYouth@coe.int before the deadline, for the subject line of video write: Why should I be chosen to attend the World Forum of Democracy on the theme of democracy and information?
  • The whole applicants will be informed (accepted, rejected or in waiting list)
  • Apply for the Visa after informed as successful applicants
  • Fill the Online application form
