The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) have agreed to offer the PhD fellowship for up to 200 Students from all over the world to pursue their study in China.

Level of study: doctoral degree

Duration: Up to 4 years

Number of student accepted from developing countries: 80

Purpose of the program:

The main purpose of this program is the advancement of developing countries.

If you are a non-Chinese national, you can apply to this fellowship and study your PhD  in China

Benefits of the fellowship:

• Travel cost to China
• Visa (65 USD)
• Monthly allowance for living, local travels and accommodation expenses about RMB 7,000-8000
• Tuition fee waiver

Eligibility

• Not be older than 35 years on December 31, 2019
• Not have any other assignment during the program
• Have the citizenship of a country other than China
• Meet the entry requirements of university
• Obtained a master degree before September 1, 2019
• Return to home country after the completion of the program
• Be proficient in English or Chinese language
• Not be currently studying at a doctoral degree in China
• Apply to ONLY one of the Universities mentioned above
• Apply once a year to this fellowship

How to apply

Eligible applicants are required to follow the steps below:

• Find, contact an eligible supervisor affiliated with colleges and school of the UCAS/USTC and get his/her approval before applying to the fellowship. (when contacting to the supervisor, send your CV, research proposal and any required documents through an explanatory email. )
• Fill your fellowship online application form

Required documents

• Two reference letters
• Passport with two years validity
• CV with a brief research introduction
• Copy of University Degrees and transcripts
• English and/or Chinese proficiency proof
• Detailed research proposal
• Copies of all the title pages and abstracts of maximum 5 published academic papers.
• Foreigner physical examination form
