Global Change Makers Essay Competition _A Golden Chance to Submit an Entry!

Application Period: Feb 13, 2020, to March 15, 2020

Application Close Date: Midnight Central European Time on 15 March.

Introduction:

The global change-makers competition is aiming to bring together youth between the ages of 15-30 from all corners of the world to share their thoughts, opinions, stories, creative writing pieces, journalism pieces, analysis pieces, unique personal experiences, etc. on the worldwide competition theme of ‘We Are Global Change Makers: Young People Leading the Change’

Here are some glues to inspire the ideas on the competition:

  • Youth and the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Youth-led institutions
  • Youth participation
  • Youth and social creativity
  • Youth-led activism
  • Civic engagement of youth
  • Youth-led/run social entrepreneurship
  • Your own choice relating to Global Change Makers’ mission of advocating youth to generate positive change towards more just, inclusive and sustainable communities. 

Details of Prizes:

Three final winners and five runners up will be chosen and a number of “honorable mentions” will also be awarded.

 

  • The first-degree winners will gain free access to resources available on Change Makers School* for 6 months period and will be displayed on Global Change Makers social media channels.
  • The runners up will receive a 50% discount to existing resources on Change Makers School for the duration 6 months.

 

Winners, runners up and honorable mentions will collectively receive certificates, will be featured on the blog We Are Global Change Makers and will receive an open invitation to contribute to the blog.

 

Important Dates:

Step 1: Call for an essay entry open from Feb 13th to March 15th, 2020

Step 2: Assessment by referee panel takes place from 16 to 19 April 2020, and

Step 3: Declaration of winners, runners up, and honorable mentions in April 2020.

 

Eligibility Conditions:

Anyone from any country in the world is openly welcome to submit an easy into the competition.

Format of the Essay:

The youth eligible for the competition must submit their essays in English using the formal submission form prior to the end of the deadline. Essays should contain between 3000 and 7000 characters (with spaces) in length and also should be the writers’ own writing.

All essay submissions must be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contest found here.

Evaluation Criteria: The below points are important in evaluating submissions:

  • Theme: How essay uniquely relates to the competition theme or one of the subtitles;
  • Focus and Details: Whether essays are well concentrated and developed;
  • Arrangement and Ideas: How original ideas are, how they are presented and whether they absorb the readers’ attention;
  • Use of Conventions: Whether spelling, grammar and punctuation errors interrupt reading and weaken the meaning of the essay;
  • Voice: Whether the writers’ unique perspective is exhibited.
