• Second-year programme: supervised Clinical Training
  Clinical training in radiotherapy, diagnostic and interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation protection (1200 hours) Thesis work (125 hours)

The suggestion is to pursue an additional 1-2 years of clinical training after completing the Master’s program in order to achieve the skills required to become a Clinically Qualified Medical Physicist (CQMP). Alternatively, the path to become a CQMP may vary depending on the regulations set by the authorities in the country. The process of being certified or registered as a CQMP must comply with the state registration guidelines. IAEA and IOMP recommend that the competencies attained by CQMPs should be maintained through a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program. The program received re-accreditation from the International Organization on Medical Physics (IOMP) in August 2023.

• Have a minimum qualification of holding degree equivalent to an MSC in physics or related fields.
• Not be over 30 years.
• Must be a nation of UN, UNESCO or IAEA member countries.

Study Requirements: 

As part of the Master of Advanced Studies in Medical Physics program, students are required to pass course exams, complete clinical training, and work on a dissertation. The dissertation must be submitted and defended during the final month of the program. Successful completion of all exams, training, project defense, and other requirements set by the Master’s Committee are necessary to receive the master’s degree from the University of Trieste. Students are also expected to participate in the ICTP’s ongoing activities related to their fields of study.
