Apply to the Chinese Government Scholarship-China Scholarship Council (CSC) open for international students for the academic year 2026- 2027.
Eligible international applicants can now apply for this scholarship to study their master’s and PhD education at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT).
Generally, interested students have two options for applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship: Type A and Type B. Applicants can apply through the Type A channel, which includes the local Chinese Embassy, Consulate, and forwarding authorities such as national institutions or international organizations in their home country. Alternatively, they can apply through the Type B channel. This means applicants can apply directly to the Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT).

Applicants who receive partial funding for CQUPT – Chinese Government Scholarships will benefit from one or more of the items listed above.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have the following:
- Must be citizens of a foreign country other than the People’s Republic of China.
- Be in good physical condition.
- You must have a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 to apply for a master’s degree program.
- Applicants to Ph.D. programs must have a Master’s degree and be under 40.
- Applicants should not have any other scholarships.
- Meet the language proficiency requirements:
- For English-taught programs: TOEFL ≥80, IELTS ≥6.5, or equivalent. Native English candidates who cannot submit the above results should take the CQUPT English exam in May.
- Chinese-taught programs require HSK 4 or higher; applicants with HSK 5 or higher may apply for the significant study directly. Those with HSK 4 can apply for a one-year Chinese language training course. Once they have met the requirements, they can pursue their degree.

Documents Requirement:
- Application Form for CSC (in Chinese or English).
- Certified highest diplomas and transcripts and notarized English or Chinese translations of non-Chinese or English documents.
- A study plan or research proposal in English or Chinese (minimum 1000 words for master’s applicants and 1500 words for doctoral candidates).
- A study plan that includes the applicant’s study goals and plans for graduate school and life after graduation.
- Curriculum vitae (CV).
- Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English, signed by university professors.
- A valid passport copy with an expiration date later than December 30, 2026.
- A passport-sized photo.
- The English Foreigner Physical Examination Form, duly filled out and signed, is valid for only six months.
- Noncriminal records are issued within six months of the application submission date.
- HSK, TOEFL, or IELTS certificate with the scores listed above.
- CQUPT pre-admission letter; Study or employment record in China (if completed).
- Other documents, such as papers, articles, publications, or awards (if available).
How to Apply?
All qualified applicants can apply online by following these two steps:
Step 1: Fill out the online application using the CSC Online Application System for International Students. Please remember to select Category Type B for the program. The CQUPT code is 10617. After submitting the application form, download, print, and sign the hard copy.
Step 2: Fill out the online application at the CQUPT International Student Service System. In the second step, please:

- Upload all required documents, including the signed Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship (step one), and then submit the online application.
