Opportunity Description
The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) offers training for 60 neurologists through the EAN Autumn School program since 2018. The school is offering the opportunity for attendees to increase their knowledge of clinical neurology.
Autumn School content and details:
The program consists of plenary sessions in the morning and hands-on/interactive or case-based sessions in the afternoons.

- STIFFNESS
- approaching a patient with stiffness (signs, localization…)

- EYE MOVEMENT DISORDERS
- Functional anatomy and bedside examination of the ocular motor system: a window to look into the brainstem and cerebellum
- Central ocular motor disorders (cerebellar ocular motor disorders, Wernicke, Whipple)
- Peripheral ocular motor disorders (eye muscle palsies, ocular myasthenia,…)
- Hands-on-Course: How to examine the ocular motor system
- Patients with central ocular motor disorders (cortex, brainstem, cerebellum movements disorders
- case presentation of peripheral ocular motor disorders
- MUSCLE WEAKNESS
- Lesion topography (from the upper motor neuron to muscle)
- Neuronal origin of Muscle Weakness (upper motor neuron syndrome (UMN), including also cranial nerves)
- Junction/Muscular origin of Muscle Weakness (Myasthenia Gravis, Myopathies, including eyes, diplopia, ptosis)
- Case presentations of neurogenic weakness
- Patient with myopathy
- Case presentations of muscular dystrophy or ALS
Who is eligible for EAN Autumn School?
- Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) members from The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) who have more than two years of clinical training

- Full members of within five years after completion of neurology training
- Applicants from low and lower-middle-income countries can apply to travel grants. Provide An intent letter of why the applicant wants to participate and why the grant is needed.

- CV form
- Proof of two years of clinical experience (from supervisor or head of the department)
- Copy of valid passport
How to apply?
All applicants should be Full members or RRFS members* at the time of application. If you are not a member and want to participate in this program, you should first apply for membership. Therefore, Start your membership application four weeks before the deadline.
