Opportunity Description
Miles Morland Foundation Writing scholarship offered for international writers and aimed to allow each participant the time to produce the first draft of a completed book. Moreover, the scholarship is allocated for everyone who is writing in the English language, which is living in Africa or their parents live in Africa.
Details:
Scholarship amount: 18000 £ monthly
Duration: 12 months
Deadline: 18 September 2020
Note: additional research will receive more supports. And it is possible to expand duration up to 18 months.
Qualification:
- Applicants must provide an excerpt from a piece of work about 2000 to 5000 words in English and published and offered for sale.
- The submission will evaluate by a professional jury based on literary merit and set up by the MMF.
Requirements:
- Applicants required to write during the year of their scholarship.
- They expected to submit at least 10000 new words every month up to completing their book, or their scholarship term has finished.
- The payment will continue if the scholars finished their work before the year is up.
Work proposed:
- Provide an explanation of writing intention between 400 to 1000 words.
- A proposal about a full-length book, no fewer than 8000 words.
Short biography:
- Describe yourself in 200 to 300 words, including your background. Shortlisted applicants will ask for more details and information.
Fiction or non-fiction:
- Both fiction and non-fiction proposals are eligible to apply. Poetry, plays, film scripts, children’s books, and short story collections are not eligible to submit.
