Qatar University accepts applications for its graduate Program for the fall 2026 semester from international applicants to help them pursue their studies at Qatar University. These programs are offered to high-performing students from outside Qatar, including Afghanistan, to study at QU and experience the unique, academically rich environment of Qatar University. Eligibility Criteria
Admission to graduate degree programs at QU is highly competitive; therefore, applicants who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
PhD Applicants
- Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Standardized test scores (GRE/GMAT) are required for all English-taught programs.
- Professional master’s degree holders (GPA ≥ 3.0) must meet additional program-specific requirements.
Master’s Applicants
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
- Must meet additional program-specific requirements.
Professional Master’s & PharmD Applicants
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
- Must enroll in at least two courses in the first semester.
- Must achieve a first-semester GPA ≥ 3.0; failure results in dismissal.
- Additional program-specific requirements apply.
Diploma Applicants
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Language requirements
The tests that are necessary for international students applying to graduate programs at Qatar University:
English Language Proficiency
- IELTS (Academic Version) – required for all international students
- TOEFL or equivalent – only if the applicant did not earn a degree in English
Graduate Admission Standardized Tests (if required by program)
- GRE – for specific programs
- GMAT – for particular programs
Important Notes:
- English test scores must be within 2 years of the semester start.
- GRE/GMAT scores must be within 5 years.
- Scores older than the allowed period must be re-taken.
- Qatar University Testing Center (QUTC) may verify and retest scores.

- International Students: Complete the online International Student Visa application and submit all required documents during the admission period.
- GCC Students: Obtain a Qatari ID card from the official authorities in Qatar; applications without it will not be considered.
How to apply for Qatar University Graduate Programs?
Follow these steps to apply for the Graduate Program at QU:
Step 1 – Complete Online Application
- Fill out the QU online admission form.
- Upload all required documents (transcripts, test scores, recommendation letters).
- International students without a Qatar residency must also apply for a student visa.
- Upload up to two confidential recommendation letters.
Step 2 – Receive Acknowledgment: Within three business days, QU will send a letter confirming receipt of your application.
Step 3 – Application Review: QU reviews your application; incomplete submissions may delay or result in denial.
Step 4 – Interview (if required): Graduate programs may contact you for an interview via email or phone.
Step 5 – Submit Official Documents: After preliminary acceptance, submit the required official certificates and documents by the specified deadlines.
Step 6 – Receive Admission Decision: Receive an official admission letter, QU ID, and login details for online resources.
Step 7 – Pay Application Fee: The QR 350 non-refundable fee via Visa or MasterCard is required to complete the application. Admission is not finalized until the fee is paid.
