Opportunity Description

Overview of the topic

Today, artificial intelligence is not only a technological turning point but also a socio-anthropological disruption. Similarly, AI technology is becoming ever more dominant in daily life, affecting everything in our life from how we engage in democratic participation to the types of jobs we currently have and the healthcare.

So, due to its relatively new essence, most countries do not have clearly outlined policies on the ethics and transparent use of AI technology in addition to the inexistence of a worldwide consensus on an ethical framework.

Considering this, UNESCO is leading the way in the worldwide conversation by developing the Recommendation on the Ethics of AI and creating a new normative tool. Relative to AI Ethics, UNESCO is calling for participants in the online consultative event.

What UNESCO is doing

Acknowledging the role of youth as a growing demographical force in the Asia-Pacific, UNESCO also attempts to include youth voices in the global dialogue on the ethics of AI since young people are the primary users and developers of AI technology and should do a critical part in the design of ethical usage.
