The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific is pleased to announce internship opportunities in the sub-regional office for South and South-West Asia, based in New Delhi. This internship is an unpaid and full-time program. Moreover, the interns will work under the supervision of staff members in ESCAP-SSWA. The focus of the internship is on the 2030 SDGs program implementation.

Interns will receive technical supports, policy advocacy, capacity building in the following areas:

Responsibilities:

  • The interns are responsible for contributing to the research project relevant to the work program of SSWA for the SDGs implementation. The project topic is depending on the intern’s background, skills, and interest.

Other duties:

  • Related development monitoring, policy trends, and news articles monitoring related to 2030 SDGs agenda implementation in the sub-region.
  • Responsible for collecting and managing the data on national policies on approved SDGs issues of ESCAP-SSWA member states.
  • Data collection, figures, and tables generations, tables, and results from description and analysis to accompany ESCAP-SSWA staff in related research and analytical work.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, meetings, and other related programs. Moreover, prepare, and highlights take notes during the programs.
  • Support the ESCAP-SSWA event through administrative, organizational, and conference promotion.
  • Perform other duties that will be asked by the supervisor.

Required qualification:

  • Strong communication skills can record clearly and concisely—excellent oral and writing language skills.
  • Excellent ability to work and manage the group, strong interpersonal skills, be able to work collaboratively with other coworkers who are from different countries, and have various cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong ability in client orientation.
  • Advance skills in planning and organizing, time management skills, control the resource for work performance, and monitoring and adjusts plans and actions when required.
  • Ability to take responsibility and honors commitment. Ability to delivers outputs for his/her responsibility within the prescribed time.
  • Strong English skills, other UN language ability is preferable.

Educational background:

  • Must enroll in higher degrees;
  • Or complete at least the first year of his or her university program (bachelor degree or equivalent).
  • Or have graduated from a university degree.
