Opportunity Description

The government of Japan offered a MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship for international students to pursue their Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Japan. The scholarship will cover the whole applicant’s expenses. Interested applicants who meet the below requirements and intended to follow their higher education in one of the developing countries are highly encouraged to take part.

Details of the MEXT Scholarship:

Level of study: Master and PhD                                                 Location: Japan

Duration: two years for a Master degree and three years for PhD

Benefits of the scholarship:

  • 143000-145000 JPY for monthly payment (changeable)
  • Full tuition fee
  • Traveling expenses.

Eligibilities:

  • Applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree for master’s and master’s degrees or equivalent for PhD, in Japan or any other country.
  • Applicants from any field can apply.
  • The applicant’s home country must be in good and formal relationship with Japan.
  • Applicants must be intended to come to Japan for Studying purposes.
  • Applicant’s age must not be more than 34 years (must be born after 2 April 1985).
  • Must be in a good state of health.
  • Applicants must not work as military or civilian-military.
  • Those applicants who got the Japanese government scholarship previously, they must have completed at least three years of education or research during the scholarship period.
  • Note: those applicants who received the language or culture of Japan scholarship from MEXT, they will be exempted from the waiting period.
  • Must have not received or received any scholarship.
  • Those applicants who applied for other universities with the same scholarship (MEXT Scholarship), or JASSO short term program, my not apply.
  • If applicants accepted for this scholarship, they must cancel the other/current scholarship application whether in Japan or any other country.
  • Those applicants who planned to start study at a Japan university, are not eligible.
  • Must be able to arrive in the middle of September 2020 in Japan.
  • Applicants must have a good university record (CGPA equal to or higher than 2.30 out of 3.00).
  • Applicants must meet the academic and language requirements of scholarship which stablished by MEXT.
  • Must be proficient in English.

Note:

  • Applicants must have received a student visa before traveling to Japan.
  • MEXT scholarship transformation with other universities will not be possible.
  • Applicants are advised to bring initial living costs for their first 5 to 6 weeks before the scholarship payment. It will be about 200000 to 250000 Japanese Yen.

  • Ritsumeikan university application form
  • Japanese Government scholarship application form
  • Questionnaire form
  • Field of study application form
  • Recommendation letter application form.
  • The recent degree certificate and diploma (including the number of credits and the year/period of credit acquisition of each course and grades like A, B, C, D, or Fail and etc.
  • Thesis abstract of the recent degree.
  • Copy of passport
  • English proficiency certificate: (CEFR B2 Level, TOEFL or IELTS or any other international English Certificate.), the test must have been taken in the two-year period preceding the application deadline. Those applicants who performed their degree in English must submit their original Language certificate or letter. Or any other English proficiency certificate that shows the applicant’s language ability.
  • Health application form.
  • 3 passport size photo (4.5cm tall x 3.5cm wide).
  • 教育部学歴証書電子注冊備案表 PDF Copy in English (only those applicants who graduated from Chinese Universities but Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macau students are not required to submit.
