The Women in Aerospace (WIA) Foundation, which is established in 2009, is a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization that offers scholarships to women who study engineering, math, or science at the undergraduate level and supports women to enter careers in the field of aerospace. WIA provides opportunities for leadership in aerospace and wants to increase women’s visibility in the community of aerospace. Female applicants who meet the eligibility are highly encouraged to apply.

Eligibilities:

• Applicants must have obtained a minimum academic record of a 3.0 GPA or a 4.0 scale.
• Applicants who are finished their first or half academic years of college work and must be enrolled at an accredited institute or university towards their bachelor’s degree and aims to follow up to be registered in the subsequent academic year.
• Applicants with strong motivation to conduct a degree in the aerospace field.
• Enrolled in the 2020-2021 academic year as the junior or senior applicant.
• Female applicants with any nationality can apply.

• Two recommendation letters from your academic professor, summer supervisor, co-op work experience, any research work supervisor. (please do not submit your recommendation letters from your relatives).
• Write in 500 to 1000 words for the following question: “Think that you are explaining to an individual with no interest in aerospace, why aerospace is important. How would you approach this explanation, and what would you say?”

Evaluation criteria:

This scholarship will be awarded based on a competitive concept, and the selection committee will review the submission based on the followings:

• 25%-Application and transcripts
• 25%- Recommendation letters
• 50%- Essay

Important notes:

• Successful applicants required to sign the scholarship agreement letter
• The WIA Foundation will confirm the scholarship recipient in a recognized institute or university with the institutions’ registrar directly.
• The scholarship will be paid to the winners by check during the fall of 2020.
