Applications for the Seedstars World Competition 2020/21 are now open. The Seedstars World Competition is the largest startup competition in emerging markets. This global competition supports the most promising early-stage startups from more than 90 emerging markets that will gain intensive training on how to be investment-ready.  The startups will participate in local, regional, and global stage competitions, but there will only be one Global Winner.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Startups meeting these criteria can take part in the competition:

• Open to technology startups, tech-enabled startups or/and early-stage corporations;
• Your startup already has a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and initial user traction;
• No prior investment more than US$1,000,000 in funding;
• Your business must have operations based in the country/city of application
• Pitch and application submitted in English
• Mandatory attendance to the online preparatory activities of the competition
• Maintenance of active and responsive communication to the competition

Stages of the competition

1. Local Stage: June – August 2020: Completely online, startups can apply from any part of their country to the nearest competition in their ecosystem. One local winner will be allowed to advance to the Regional Stage.
2. Regional Stage: November – December 2020: Local Stage winners will compete on a regional level in a broadcasted pitch competition on Seedstars Life. Then Seedstars will choose finalists based on their startup strength and scalability and will move on to the Grand Finale.
3. Grand Finale: April 2021: Will bring together the winners of all five regional stages for a profound training and the opportunity to compete for the title of Global Winner and the prize of up to $500,000 USD in equity investment.

Notification of result

• All candidates will receive their score and selection results by the end of August 2020.

• Apply to the nearest local competition in the ecosystem where your startup is operating.
• The Seedstars team will assess all applications using a purpose-built algorithm – the Investment Readiness Score – to evaluate the viability and suitability of your startup for the contest.
